Summary of Services

(Age 6 months through 18 years) All persons age 6 months and older are recommended to receive influenza vaccine. Some children ages 6 months through 8 years may need two doses. If this pertains to your child, the nurse will discuss it with you. JCHD Children’s Flu Vaccine Clinics JCHD Children’s Immunization Clinics are held on Thursdays by appointment. One clinic per month is open until 6pm.

Flu shots and nasal spray flu vaccines for children through age 18 years will be available by appointment based on vaccine availability. This year we will also hold a Family Flu Clinic by appointment on October 13, 2014. Parents and children will all be able to get their flu vaccinations at this clinic by appointment. Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program Children ages birth through 18 years who qualify for the VFC program: – have Medicaid coverage – are American Indian or Alaskan natives – do not have health insurance – have health insurance that DOES NOT cover vaccinations Children who qualify for the VFC program shall not be denied vaccinations if unable to pay the administration fee or make a donation.

The VFC program accepts Medicaid for payment. Effective September 1, 2013 – VFC fees: $20/ injection Jersey County residents $22/ injection out-of-county residents Medical Insurance Children who have medical insurance that covers vaccinations DO NOT qualify for the VFC program noted above.

Jersey County Health Department has agreements with some insurance carriers to provide vaccinations to their members. At this time, we have agreements with Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Coventry, HealthLink and Humana. If we have not been able to secure an agreement with your insurance carrier to provide vaccinations to its members, you are required to pay for your child’s vaccines.
