Women's Health
The Illinois Department of Public Health established the Office of Women's Health (OWH) in 1997. Since that time, the OWH has been working with local health departments and other health agencies to provide a variety of programs to improve the health of women and girls in Illinois throughout the lifespan.
Jersey County Health Department has received grants from the OWH for education programs to prevent osteoporosis, to decrease heart disease risk, to understand changes of menopause and to screen for breast and cervical cancer. Information about women's health education programs is available by calling the Jersey County Health Department, 618-498-9565.
